About the Needville Youth Fair

FOUNDED IN 1956

The NYF is a non-profit [Section 501 (c) (3)] corporation that owns and operates a seven-acre fairground facility dedicated to serving the children of our community. The fairground has a first-class agricultural barn and arena, fair office and concession stand as well as buildings to house arts and crafts and educational projects.

Management consists of a 40-member Board of Directors, made up entirely of volunteers consisting of local business people, citizens, and educators including 4-H, FFA and FCCLA leaders.  The full Board holds monthly meetings 10 months out of the year in addition to special meetings held by the Executive Board and Committee Chairmen.

MISSION STATEMENT

The Needville Youth Fair, Corporation, was founded to organize, build a facility, produce, sponsor, and hold an annual fair for the local children. The organization was to promote the interest of youth in agriculture, livestock, creative arts, educational and scientific projects, exhibitions and contests, livestock judging contests, queen’s contests, booths by other non-profit organizations (to help them fund their own activities), a parade, pet show, arena games, entertainment and awards and recognition ceremony.  Many educational projects are geared to meet state of Texas’ mandated educational goals in the fields of science, social studies, history and foreign language.  Additionally, the organization is to bring closer relationships between the youth and adults in the community while teaching responsibility, cooperation and other valuable positive life lessons. The organization proudly makes available scholarships for worthy graduates of Needville I.S.D. to further their education. The organization cooperates fully with the FFA, FCCLA, 4-H Clubs, and other charitable organizations to promote their work in the community as well as with the NISD board and their administrators.
